About Us
Vanessa believes the Bible’s instruction is a wonderful foundation to forming a parenting style based on grace and love and desires to help share this teaching with the community.
Poppy loved the idea of providing stories that were simple and easy to read, but also accurately reflected the Bible so that even the very youngest of child could hear God’s word.
This series is designed to assist little children in reading the Bible.
Suitable for church ministries,
school classrooms
or family story time.

Reviews:
Kanishka Raffel, Archbishop of Sydney writes:
I am thrilled to see the words of scripture – pure and simple – presented in these attractive, accessible and engaging books for parents to share with their children, and young readers. The delightful illustrations will capture the attention and stimulate the imagination of children and grown-ups alike, as they share in treasured stories from the Bible, full of God’s love poured out in Jesus.
Rory Shiner, Senior Pastor Providence City Church writes:
“When it comes to teaching children, we should never teach what we will need to unteach later. Sometimes, when teaching the Bible to children, a well-meaning attempt to make material engaging will either add in more than is there, or leave out details key to the story. The result can be that children learn what they must later unlearn. And the transition to reading the Bible themselves can become unnecessarily bumpy. Vanessa Chappell has given to parents and teachers a powerful gift: Bible stories for children that allow the Bible’s own story-telling power to shine through. These stories are masterfully told so that children will grasp them and delight in them, but the language and details of the Bible itself is preserved. The illustrations by Poppy Lindsell are delightful, original, and elucidating. There are few more precious tasks entrusted to us than teaching scripture to little ones. These books will be a great resource for anyone invested in this task.”
Rory Shiner studied Arts at UWA, theology at Moore College, and completed a PhD in Australian Church History at Macquarie University. Rory is currently the Senior Pastor of Providence City Church, Perth where he lives with his wife, Susan, and their four boys. Rory has just released his most recent book, Forgiven Forever, following the earlier release of The World Next Door: A Short Guide to the Christian Faith.
About the Collaborators:
Vanessa Chappell has been a grateful disciple of the Lord Jesus for 36 years. She is currently combining duties as a mother and wife, along with Finance Manager of a large medical practice. What gives her great joy though is seeing the very young child grasp the love of God.
Building on her experience as a Sports Physiotherapist and working with children through the developmental stages, she saw the importance of building good foundations in the formative years, which help prepare the young child for school and the wider world. Vanessa developed a love for sharing the Bible with young children and their caregivers while coordinating a large community church playgroup for over 12 years. In 2023 she established a new community playgroup in a small local church and continues to serve in this joy filled ministry.
Poppy Lindsell grew up in Perth, Western Australia and completed the ‘Visual Art Gifted and Talented’ programme during high school. In 2020 she was commissioned to do a small cartoon illustration for a friend and this led to her researching and then creating her own style loosely based from comic books she had researched. Poppy has completed her university degree and is enjoying freelance work while regularly serving in children’s ministry at her church.
Why Self Publish?
Vanessa understands that the world is rapidly changing and so has embraced the opportunity to share this work in both the printed and digital spheres.
Self publishing the Who is God? stories means they can be made available as an electronic download to facilitate projection in school classrooms, community groups and churches, without breaching copyright.
Self publishing also gives freedom for the author to share this work, with the hope that these stories can be accessed by people sharing their faith with less advantaged children in the far reaching places of the world.
And finally, the joy of self publishing removes any mark-up which means prices can be kept as low as possible.
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. “
– Jesus Christ, Matthew 19:14 (NIV)
